Kirkkojärvi school will be open for visitiors on Saturday 4.9. as a part of the Open House Helsinki event. The tour guided by Verstas Architects and headmaster Kari Louhivuori begins at the southern main entrance (Kotikyläntie 6, 02770 Espoo) at 3 pm. Welcome!

Kirkkojärvi school is one of the seven buildings presented in an exhibition of Finnish school buildings in 12th International Architecture Exhibition of the Venice Biennale. The exhibition titled New schools in Finland is produced by the MFA and will be open for public from August 29th to November 21st 2010 in the Finnish Pavilion designed by Alvar Aalto.

Kirkkojärvi school was completed in August and the students have started their school year. Click here for new photos.

Verstas arkkitehtien suunnittelema kaupunkimökki on uusi tulkinta Helsingin rantojen kesämajoista. Ympärivuotiseenkin käyttöön sopiva 14 neliön mökki tarjoaa mahdollisuudet ekologiseen mökkeilyyn kaupungissa, hyvien yhteyksien päässä. Verstas arkkitehtien ja TimberHeartin yhteistä kaupunkimökkiä kehitetään kesän aikana sarjatuotantoon soveltuvaksi.

Verstas Architects’ City Cottage is a modern interpretation of the summer huts on the shores of Helsinki. The 14 squaremeter cottage in the city within reach of public transport is an ecologically aware alternative to a summer house. The cottage developed by Verstas Architects in co-operation with TimberHeart will be available for purchase later this year.

Verstas Architects’ entry ‘Huopikkaat’ was awarded the shared 2nd prize in the competition for Männistön liiketalo in Kuopio. The first prize was left unawarded. The design for the centre block of the Männistö area comprises commercial spaces and services on the street and square levels as well as housing.

HOAS Brysselinkatu construction site is on schedule. The building, scheduled for completion by August, will be the first completed building of the block.

Verstas wins the invited competition for a housing block in Viikinmäki, Helsinki. All entries are on display until the end of the year at the City Planning Department exhibition space Laituri.
